Do you have a calculator, but can't turn it off? The obvious choice would be to hit the "OFF" button, but what if it doesn't have an "OFF" button, or what if it's broken? Learn how to turn off a calculator without using the "OFF" button.

Step 1 Turn the calculator on.

Method One

  1. Hold only one of the following sets of buttons simultaneously (at the same time):
    • hold down '2' and '3' or
    • hold down '5' and '6' or
    • hold down the 'Division' and 'Multiplication' buttons or
    • hold down '9' and the 'Subtraction' button or
    • hold down '1', '2', '4', and '6' or
    • hold down '1', '3', '4', and '5'
  2. While holding on the buttons, press and release the "ON" button [C/CE]
  3. The calculator turns off. You can release the other buttons that you were holding. (This whole procedure should take no more than 2 seconds)

Press the buttons in following sequence on,/,*,%,check,correct,correct for citizen ct-512

Method Two

  1. If it is a solar powered calculator, cover the solar panel until it turns off.

Tips

  • If in a grid, this is the numerical button order. 1 is bottom left, 2 is to the right of 1. 3 is to the right of 2, and then we go up a row and restart the process ( 1 2 3 being 4 5 6).
  • It is easiest to release the On button before releasing the numeric buttons.

Warnings

  • This will work on most modern calculators, with or without an "OFF" button.
  • This does not work with regular Casio calculators without the "OFF" button.
  • This will not work on scientific or graphing calculators.
