If you lose your cat and can't find him, learn how to make him come running! This is a good way to make your cat come to you when you want it to!

Step 1

Find a treat that you think your cat would like, like special cat treats.

Step 2

Get your cat and make sure that it likes what you got for him.

Step 3

Right before you give it to him, do something to catch his attention, for example, clapping, so your cat will know that after you clap, he will always get that certain treat.

Step 4

Repeat step 3 a little later to see if your cat remembered that when you clap he gets his treat.

Step 5

If he remembers, you've been successful! Whenever your cat is outside and you can't find him, it probably means he doesn't want to come and is hiding. When you start clapping, he will probably be lured from his hiding place if he loves his treats enough!

Tips

  • If your cat doesn't like the kind of food that you got him, get him another kind. If your cat doesn't like canned food, then he probably will like dry cat treats better, or vice versa.
  • If you have canned food, then you should pat the top of it, or if you have dry food in a container, then you shake the treats, but make sure it has a sound that is loud enough.
  • Your cat has to be an outside cat, because obviously, an inside cat doesn't have to come to you, you can just get him, but if you want to, it would still be fun to train him.
  • You could also get a number of different treats and make different sounds, and your cat would know what kind of treat he is getting!

Warnings

  • Never give your cat milk for a treat, because it can be hazardous to their health. Many cats are lactose-intolerant, which means that the lactose in milk and milk products produces stomach upset, cramps, and gassiness.

Things You'll Need

  • a cat
  • cat treats(a lot of different kinds, if wanted)
