Even though you try to be gentle with your eyeglasses, accidents happen. The glasses may fall, or they may rub against another item in your purse or pocket. They scratch!. All you can think about, is that you never took scratch insurance out when you bought your glasses. Relax, you can easily remove those scratches by using a soft cloth and some toothpaste.

Step 1 Dab a little toothpaste onto the cotton wool or cloth

Gently rub the lens in small circles.

Step 2 Continue to rub for about about ten seconds

Then wipe off the toothpaste.

Step 3 Remove all the toothpaste with water and a clean cloth.

Step 4 Don't get impatent

Just because the scratch is still there after polishing it once doesn't mean it isn't working. Keep repeating steps 1-3 untill the scratch is removed.

Tips

  • Use a clean soft cloth. Rub very lightly.
  • Use a regular toothpaste.
  • Instead of using toothpaste, try "Mother's Plastic Polish" if available where you live.
  • If your glasses have an "anti-scratch coating" or other coating, be prepared to have to polish off the entire coating. Next time, don't get the coating put on your glasses.

Warnings

  • Do not use a very abrasive toothpaste or rub too hard or you might damage the glasses.
