Here are instructions on the classic word game, Scrabble. Scrabble is a fun word game. The object of the game is to get the most points. Whether it's doubles, or triples, this game will surely be enjoyable for you, and every one around you.

Step 1

Each player takes 7 letters from the Scrabble bag, but no one else (besides you) can look at the letters. Place the letters on the holder to keep in your letters.

Step 2

Decide who goes first.

Step 3

That person looks at his/her letters. The person must find a hidden word in the scramble of letters, from 2-7 letters.

Step 4

Starting with the first letter in the middle square, the star, that person must place each letter forming the word either going right, or going downwards.

Step 5

Notice the numbers on the letters. First, see if there are any words under any of the letters. Before you add, (unless there are no words) learn what the following words mean:

  • Double Letter Score: This means that the above letter is twice the amount of points as shown on the letter.
  • Double Word Score: This means that the above letter that incorporates the word(s) shown is/are twice as many points.
  • Triple Letter Score: This means that the above letter is triple the amount of points as shown on the letter.
  • Triple Word Score: This means that the above letter that incorporates the word(s) shown is/are triple as many points.

Step 6

Once you doubled/tripled the number(s), you are ready to start adding. Add each number once, then Write it down on a piece of paper to keep score.

Step 7

After you finish that, grab the amount of letters from the scrabble bag until you have 7 letters again. No peeking at the letters!

Step 8

It is now the second person's turn. Repeat Step 3.

Step 9

Once Step 3 is completed, find a place to put the word. The person's word must have at least one letter of his/her connected to the other person's word.

Step 10

Repeat Steps 5-7.

Step 11

Once there are no more letters in the bag, when someone's turn is finished, they do not grab any letters.

Step 12

When someone uses up all their letters, the game is over.

Step 13

Add up all your points.

Step 14

Add up your leftover letters. Subtract your sum of leftover(s) from your original score. This is your final score!

Challenging

  1. You can challenge someone if they put a word down, but either you don't think it is a word, or it is misspelled. Get your Scrabble dictionary, or any other dictionary. Look the word up.
    • If you were wrong, then you skip a turn.
    • If you were right, the opponent skips his/her turn, and takes back his/her letters.

Tips

  • If you use all 7 letters in one turn, you automatically get an extra 50 points!
  • More letters, more points.
  • Using letters like "X" on a Triple Letter/Word Score will get you some big points.
  • If you put a word down that changes another word, but still spells a real word, both of those words count for your score! Though, only the letter(s) that you just put down will give you the word/letter scores.
  • Blank letters can be replaced with any other letter, but they are worth 0 points.
  • If you are unsure with a word, look it up in the Scrabble Dictionary.

Warnings

  • Proper nouns are invalid!
