Do you like to hear jokes and make people laugh, but you don't know any funny jokes? Well this article can help you crack a few funnies and lighten other people's mood.

Step 1

Be certain of this - a joke isn't a joke if it's not funny. When making your own up make sure to test it out on a friend or relative before going to other people with your joke. This can save you the grief of having the person just stare at you with a blank face.

Step 2

Listen to what others are saying that is funny. When you are just starting and trying to make your own joke, listen to a few others to get an idea about what your's is going to be. Don't just rip off the joke and tell it to someone else. They could already have heard it so they won't be as receptive to the joke.

Step 3

String a few things together. Some jokes involve a lot of irony, some are the basic "your momma" jokes. And some are the jokes that require a lot of talking.

Step 4

Keep it simple and short. Talking about one joke for about three minutes to explain will bore your audience. Remember that the best jokes aren't always the smartest jokes.

Step 5

Don't overdo a joke over and over always plan to tell a few jokes of your own then come back to one later.

Tips

  • You'll get better with practice.
  • Most jokes aren't made in ten minutes. It may take you a while to get one of your own that makes sense.

Warnings

  • Be prepared for failure.
  • Jokes are only funny once. Don't repeat jokes, even if you think someone wasn't listening, as this can lessen their effect. Most likely, someone else will tell them what the joke was.
