It can be easy to lose track of show records and forget how you scored, especially if you show often. Having these records can help you when looking for an equine-related job, selling your horse or pursuing awards offered by show associations.

Step 1

Create a spreadsheet on your computer for each horse that you show.

Step 2

Label each column to denote one piece of information. Be sure to include:

  • The event
  • The show name
  • The show's location
  • The date of the show
  • The judge's name (if applicable)
  • Your score (if applicable)
  • Your place
  • Class(es) entered
  • The name of the technical delegate or head administrator
  • Any other information that you feel is important, such as
    • The size of your class
    • Any of your or your trainer's comments.

Step 3

In each row, fill in the details for each class, not each show in which you take part.

Step 4

Update your log immediately after every show. Don't procrastinate, as you may misplace your notes.

Step 5

Use the log to improve your performance in future events. You could also show the log to your trainer as they may notice a pattern in your results and be able to help you improve further.
