Have you ever received an envelope like this one in the mail? This article will show you how to use it as a mold to make a nice gift envelope!

Step 1

Lay the envelope open and flat on the card stock.

Step 2

Draw the outline, using a pencil. (In this example, a black marker was used for clarity).

Step 3

Remove the envelope.

Step 4

Score the lines that are drawn in pink, using scissors. You may draw the lines first if you want, but it isn't really necessary.

Step 5

Cut out the envelope along the black line.

Step 6

Lay the envelope you just cut on the white side of a piece of gift wrap.

Step 7

Draw the outline using a pencil.

Step 8

Remove the envelope.

Step 9

Use a ruler to draw 2cm /0.8" outside the outline. To draw outside the round part: Make a dotted line first, then connect the dots.

Step 10

Cut out the shape. It should look like this image.

Step 11

Glue stick the envelope to the inside of the gift wrap. Take care to glue it inside the inner line!

Step 12

Cut along the diagonal lines. Glue the resulting flaps to the card stock. Cut the round part to "teeth" of 1cm /0.4" wide before gluing. Take care not to cut the card stock!

Step 13

Finish off the inside of the envelope with a piece of colored paper. Matching or contrasting, whatever you like.

Step 14

Decorate the outside of your envelope with stickers, a tag, a bow or anything else you want.

Step 15

Put your gift voucher or money inside.

Step 16

Done! Hand (or send) it to the happy recipient!

Warnings

  • Be careful with scissors.
  • Young children should make this under supervision.
  • If you send the envelope through mail: make sure that whatever is inside can't move!
