Crafting your own bead ring is an easy and satisfying craft. Bead rings make a fashionable addition to any jewelry collection and the color and bead style opportunities are endless. Given that you can make bead rings easily and inexpensively at home, you have an excellent opportunity to make as many as you wish both for yourself and to give away as gifts.

Step 1

Cut a strip of elastic that will fit around the finger about twice, then slide a small bead into the center.

Step 2

Slip two larger beads at either side of the small bead.

Step 3

Slip a small bead on one tail and then slip the other tail through, too.

Step 4

Continue this pattern until you have enough beads to fit around the finger. Do not add a small bead to the last set.

Step 5

Finish the ring by slipping the loose tails through the first small bead you placed on the elastic. Tie an over hand knot (as suggested by the elastic pkg) and then cut off the loose tails.

Tips

  • You can size the ring by placing the elastic around your finger and measuring the length required.
  • Use different sized beads and vary the colors. Just be sure to make the colors match.
  • Do not use beads that are too large, or they will not fit comfortably on the finger.
  • Using the same process, you can also make a matching bracelet.
  • When not using the beads, keep them in a sealed shoe box, out of reach of small children and animals.

Warnings

  • Keep all beads out of reach of babies and small children.
  • Adults should supervise when young children are making this ring.
  • If a bead falls on the floor, pick it up immediately to prevent babies and pets from finding it.

Things You'll Need

  • Beads
  • Elastic thread
  • Scissors/jewelry wire cutters
