Do you want to have an amazing party? One that you and your friends will remember forever? One that all your family will enjoy being part of? One where all the work put into it will feel like a game? Well, this is the party plan for you! This is based around a sleepover, but could also be adapted for day or evening.
Step 1
Type or hand write out invitations in fancy writing and word it exactly like the letter Harry first receives from Hogwarts. Say it is from Professor *whatever your last name is*.
Step 2
Decide on a room to be your Gryffindor dorm.
Step 3
Transform everything in your house to look like Hogwarts. If there is anything your can't change (like a computer and desk) put a sign on it saying, "Muggle Items: For Muggle Studies Students only, Do Not Touch".
Step 4
Get everyone in your family to be a teacher from the books. You will have to have McGonagall or Dumbledore to explain everything to the kids when they come but other than that just dress up as any other teachers.
Step 5
Prepare the party meal and feed them Butterbeer (that can be ginger beer), cupcakes with wizard signs on them, and anything else creative like that.
Step 6
The kids can sleep in the dorm and do whatever they want or play normal party games.
Step 7
You can get parchment at the store, and have people write letters to each other, which will get delivered to you some time during the morning.
Step 8
Have different "classroom" activities that kids can participate in. For example "Potions" can be making slime or mixing juices that they can actually drink.
Step 9
Make magic wands from dowels, glitter, paint, and other crafting materials that kids can play with throughout the party.
Tips
- Deliver the party bags by owl! Have someone dress up as an owl OR have someone hide behind something, hoot like an owl and throw the bags near the kids.
- Get your family to practice acting like their teacher so it is really believable.
- Encourage guests, both kids and adults to dess in as their favorite characters.
Warnings
- Be careful when sticking things up on the wall for decorations! Make sure they will be able to come off easily without wrecking the paint!
- Make sure, if the kids are young, that they won't be scared by people walking around in dark cloaks. Particularly people pretending to be Snape etc.
- If you allow kids to make their own "wands" make sure that you cover your tables and work surfaces. It isn't very magical when you have stained furniture in your house!
