Las Vegas is known as the "gambling city of the United States". Casinos are always flooded with gamblers during the day and the streets are crowded with visitors and casino hoppers at night. Las Vegas's motto is "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas". But there's more to the city than the adult environment and events. Las Vegas has entertainment and activities for all ages, including kids.

Step 1

Look into shows that are family-friendly. Suggestions include ice skating and acrobatic shows (5 or 6 years and older) and magic shows (with no age restriction).

Step 2

Walk around salt water aquariums, shark reefs, and dolphin habitats. None of these has age restrictions and will be very informative and fun for kids.

Step 3

Notice that there are lots of places that kids can have fun at. Research the kid-friendly attractions and rides about the height and age restrictions; as most of them like museums and the M & M World.

Step 4

Find arcades that the kids can have fun in. Almost all of the main hotels have arcades, usually on the other side of the first floor of the casinos. From DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) to virtual simulators, they can occupy themselves for hours on end.

Step 5

Search for places outside of the city for other family-friendly ideas and events. There are a lot of sightseeing points, for example Grand Canyon National Park and the Las Vegas Sportspark.

Tips

  • Do activities with the kids. The more interactive you are around them, the more fun it will be as a family.
  • There is a volcano in front of the Mirage Hotel. This occurs every hour, on the hour after 6 pm or dusk.
  • There is also a water show with music outside the Bellagio Hotel.
  • Check out the Fremont Street Experience as several blocks of canopy are lit with animation and music. Be cautious that the music may be too loud for little kids and the area does get jammed with foot traffic.
  • Invest in the Las Vegas monorail for getting around the Strip at night. The monorail stretches from the MGM Grand to the Sahara Hotel & Casino. Walk in crowded and/or lit areas and do not take shortcuts because you think it's faster.

Warnings

  • Leave all valuables in the hotel room and carry anything that is absolutely necessary for the duration out.
  • Research now before heading to the actual place. It's better to be prepared than to get denied because of a height restriction or a payment method that you don't have on hand.
