Western Australia is a great place to have a holiday, so if you visit Australia be sure to visit WA!

Please understand that if you come from big cities such as New York, Shanghai, or Cairo you may find Perth to be completly differant as it is more like a big country town than a city with a very laid back culture. You may also wonder where all the people are gone while on the suburban streets or visiting some beaches, DON'T WORRY!the population of Perth is growing and if you do feel quite a bit isolated i recommend you get a Hotel or Motel in Perth city.

If coming on a holiday i would not recommend visiting the country alone as rural WA may seem are really iscolated to you and may feel lonely.Visiting with family and friends, you can enjoy much more.

Please understand that nearly all shops here close at 5pm on weekdays and latenight shopping is on Thursday. Visit Fremantle, Cockburn, and Perth City for shopping!

Step 1

Plan your holiday weeks before you leave. This will help you to remember the things you want to do while on your vacation. Some things you need to know include:

  • The capital of WA, is Perth and is home to many restaurants, pubs, clubs etc be sure to visit them
  • There are many towns situated throughout WA and are bursting with beautiful scenery, golden outback and a laid back lifestyle
  • WA is a huge state so be sure to visit as many places as possible
  • Broome, Carnavon and Geraldton are great places to stay and offer many activities and fun things to do during your stay
  • In Perth, be sure to visit Rottnest Island!, via the Fremantle port.
  • Mandurah, Busselton are only a short drive from Perth , be sure to give these towns a visit
  • WA is a great place to do canoing and scuba diving sp give them ago when you visit Shark Bay.

Step 2

Visit Monkey Mia (swim with the dolphins) and Shark Bay (home to a stunning coral reef). Lodging in Monkey Mia is limited and lodging in both places fill up fast so reservations are suggested.

Step 3

Take a road trip to the golden outback, during your long drive you and you will be able to experience an adventure with clear skies and beautiful and picturesque landscapes.

Step 4

Visit Cannington Market, as fresh fruit including many tropical fruit and vegetable are available for fairly cheap prices.

Step 5

Go to the CBD. Perth City is a large metropolitan area that is sprawled with shops and cafe's so be sure give it a visit.

Step 6

If you come from America please note that tipping is appreciated but is not commonly practiced. Most Aussies in fact, would rather that you don't tip (unless they are the recipient) because they do not desire tipping to become a common and expected practice.

Step 7

Most West Australians are very friendly, so don't hesitate ask for help if you are lost or unsure about which tourist attractions to visit.

Tips

  • While in Australia visit NSW and the Sunshine coast as well!
  • The lifestyle in WA is very laid back so try to get used to it.
  • When visiting in July or August in the peak winter season, be sure to bring jumpers and jackets as the temperature can drop quite cold and at sometimes the weather is very chilly.
  • Motel rooms often have only a small space heater, so in the winter the room is quite cool when you first enter and it takes a period of time to become comfortably warm.
  • Please keep WA beautiful, littering on the streets,is frowned upon deeply.

Warnings

  • Sunburn! Try bring heaps of sunscreen.
  • The temperatures during the peak summer (usually during December to early March) can uncommonly reach 40°C or higher so it's best to visit in the spring months (September to November) as this is the time with the best weather.
