A handlebar mustache is a fairly uncommon sight these days on a younger man. While not for the impatient, a handlebar mustache is a definite conversation starter with both men and women.
Step 1
Start growing a mustache: Stop shaving the area from one side of your mouth to the other between your nose and upper lip. You will have to choose how far out on the cheeks and down the sides of the mouth to grow out your mustache. It is usually better to let it grow out a bit so you can see what is going to work for you.
Step 2
Keep that mustache growing...: As your mustache hair gets longer, you should start combing it from the center out to the sides. This starts to "train" the hair what direction to go.
Step 3
And growing...: At this point combing your mustache is vital to keeping it out of your mouth and you may be starting to get a nice curl.
Step 4
And growing!: If you haven't already, you will probably need to get a styling product such as a mustache wax to tame your mustache into the shape you want it. Needs may vary, see the link in the Things You'll Need section for more information.
Step 5
Have some fun!: Put a little extra wax in your mustache and try a new or different shape.

- Not everyone can grow a good looking mustache, much less a handlebar mustache
