Barbie is a beloved doll loved around the world both by adults and children. After some time however, Barbie may lose the beauty she was packaged with, therefore she's in case of an emergency makeover.

Step 1

Take off any clothing and accessories. Find a nice tub or sink which is deep enough for you to dip her into the water. If she's is filthy, wash her body.

Step 2

Wash her hair using either soap or water. If you want, you could try using shampoo and water instead.

Step 3

Take a small pick comb (some Barbies come with these brushes) and pick out knots.

Step 4

Take some scissors (if you are young, you might need adult supervision) and cut new hair style. Try doing something simple like short hair or bobs.

Step 5

If you want to be creative and funky, you can dye Barbie's hair using Kool-Aid. Massage some Kool-Aid powder into her hair (as well as enough water). Dry her hair and then wash out any remaining powder. It should wash off using hot water and soap.

  • If you don't like the Kool-Aid idea, you could use a permanent marker such as a Sharpie to colour her hair. But remember, a permanent marker is PERMANENT!

Step 6

If you don't want to dye her hair at all. You can temporarily use a fluorescent highlighter to give Barbie some awesome highlights. The liquid in a highlighter most of the time is not permanent, so if you are not satisfied, you could try again.

Step 7

If you have experience sewing or you know how to, find some real neat fabric. Try designing a cool fashion for Barbie and sew it together. If you hate your current Barbie outfit, you can just alternate it to suit your liking (like sewing on beads etc).

Step 8

Applying makeup to your Barbie is fairly easy as well. For eyeliner, use a pen (any colour you'll like) and just outline the visible part of Barbie's eyelid. (You can do both top and bottom, but I prefer just top because it's easier and looks less cluttered). For lipstick, use nice coloured pen (red, pink, peach or plum will do the job )and just shade in those lips. You can finish off her lips with some Vaseline to provide lovely shine to those lips.

Tips

  • It helps to know what you want to do with your Barbie before you start.

Warnings

  • Be careful when your handling scissors, especially if you are young or you do not know what you are doing.
  • Barbie's hair will not grow back. Once you cut it, it's permanent.
  • If you are sewing, make sure you know what you are doing, especially if you decide to use a sewing machine for this matter. However, it is better to use just a needle and thread to stitch.
  • These are just guidelines only. You do not need to follow every single step, although it helps if your Barbie is extreme need of a makeover.
  • Use common sense
