Step 1
Some Pokemon evolve through certain genders, an example would be Combee to Vespiquen. Combee only evolves when it is a female (indicated by the red/pink gender symbol) and when it hits level 21.
Step 2
Some Pokemon will only evolve if they level up at a certain place in Sinnoh, Hoenn, Kanto or Johto. Examples would be Eevee to Leafeon or Glaceon, Magneton to Magnezone, Nosepass to Probopass. Eevee only evolves to Leafeon or Glaceon at Moss Rock(which is in Eterna Forest) and Ice Rock (which is just beyond Snowpoint) for each Pokemon, respectively. To evolve Magneton or Nosepass, level it up anywhere inside Mt. Coronet.
Step 3
Some Evolve when they become friends with their trainer. Examples would be: Budew to Roselia, Chingling to Chimecho, Riolu to Lucario. Budew and Riolu need to level up with friendship during the day and Chingling during the night.
Step 4
ELECTABUZZ > ELECTIVIRE: If you trade it while it holds the Electrizer, it will evolve.
Step 5
MAGMAR > MAGMORTAR: Evolves if traded while holding the Magmarizer.
Step 6
DUSCLOPS > DUSKNOIR: Evolves if traded while holding the Reaper Cloth.
Step 7
PORYGON > PORYGON2: Evolves if traded while holding the Up-Grade.
Step 8
PORYGON2 > PORYGON-Z: Evolves if traded while holding the Dubious Disc.
Step 9
RHYDON > RHYPERIOR: Evolves if traded while holding the Protector.
Step 10
SCYTHER > SCIZOR, ONIX > STEELIX: Evolve if traded while holding the Metal Coat.
Step 11
BONSLY > SUDOWOODO, MIME JR. > MR. MIME: Evolves at level 21 and after learning mimic.
Step 12
YANMA > YANMEGA, TANGELA > TANGROWTH : Evolves after it knows Ancientpower Power .
Step 13
PILOSWINE>MAMOSWINE: Evolves after it knows Ancientpower.
Step 14
GLIGAR>GLISCOR: Evolves when it has razor fang and it has to be night time.
Step 15
SNEASEL>WEAVILE: Evolves when it has razor claw and it has to be night time.
Step 16
MANTYKE>MANTINE: Evolves when you have a REMORAID in your party, at any level and level up MANTYKE.
Step 17
LICKITUNG>LICKILICKY : Evolves after it knows Rollout.
