This article is full of tips to help evolve Buneary. This guide may help you evolve several other pokemon, including Munchlax, Togepi, Espeon and Umbreon, Riolu, Chansey and Golbat. All of these Pokemon evolve on a high Friendship level.

Step 1

Catch a Buneary in Eterna Forest, west of Eterna City.

Step 2

Once you have one, make it friendlier. Check the tips section below for ways of doing this.

Step 3

Check your Poketch. There is a friendship counter available by talking to a brown-haired girl in one of the Pokemon Centers. The more love hearts that pop up when you touch your pokemon's image, the more it likes you.

Step 4

You may also go for a stroll in Hearthome city with your Buneary, it will sometimes boost its friendship!

Step 5

Check with the many people who assess your Pokemon's friendliness. The best one to go to is in the Pokemon Fan Club in Hearthome city. Have your Buneary at the front of your party when you talk to her. You can also talk to Dr. Footstep. If your Buneary is deserving of a Footprint Ribbon, it's ready to level up.

Step 6

When your Buneary is at full Friendship, it will evolve the next time you level it up. While training it up, be careful not to let it faint! If you aren't confident about it being strong enough to battle, use a Rare Candy.

Step 7

Once you've leveled it up you'll have the powerful Normal Type, Lopunny.

Tips

  • Keep it with you. The more you carry it around with you in your party, the more it will become attached to you.
  • Raising its stats with items such as Carbos and Zinc will not only strengthen your pokemon, but will make it more friendly.
  • If a pokemon is holding the Soothe Bell, it will become happier. As you carry it around, the bell will help it to warm up to you. You can grab a Soothe Bell from the first time through Mt. Coronet or from the old man on Route 225.
  • Take it to the spa. The Ribbon Syndicate Spa in the Resort Area can be used once every 24 hours to treat your pokemon to a relaxing scrub that will make it happier.
  • Use friendliness berries. These lower stats, but up friendship level. When combined with stat boosting items, they make a great way to make your pokemon happy.
  • Level it up. Your pokemon will trust you more every time it defeats a pokemon or gets stronger, so it makes a great way to make your pokemon more friendly.
  • Get it Ribbons. The more ribbons your pokemon has, the faster it will warm up to you. Buneary is particularly good at Cute contests, so boost it up with sweet poffins. Even eating poffins makes your pokemon like you more.

Warnings

  • Every time your pokemon faints it will become more unhappy. Keep your pokemon healthy at all times.
  • Every time your pokemon takes poison damage, it loses trust in you. Stop it getting poisoned at all costs!
  • Friendliness berries lower your pokemon's stats. If you have the patience, you should refrain from using them.
