Phase is a Guitar Hero-like game for the iPod. Playing it is hard, and unlocking higher difficulties is even harder. But I will make it easier for you. No joke.

Step 1

Get an iPod Nano Third Generation, iPod Classic, or iPod Fifth Generation. Phase will not work on other models.

Step 2

Download Audacity at audacity.sourceforge.net.

Step 3

Download The LAME MP3 Encoder at lame.sourceforge.net.

Step 4

Download iTunes if you do not already have iTunes 7.5 or higher.

Step 5

Open iTunes. Go to iTunes Store. On the sidebar click iPod Games, scroll down to Phase. Click there and buy Phase if you do not already have it. Start downloading.

Step 6

Drag your Music Library to a new playlist that appears: Phase Music. It will start analyzing the songs.

Step 7

Attach your iPod to your computer and sync the playlist, as well as iPod games.

Step 8

Eject your iPod correctly and open up Phase. If this is your first time using Phase, familiarize yourself with playing it very well. If you are a veteran of Phase, skip this step.

Step 9

Reconnect your iPod. Install Audacity and uncompress/unzip LAME.

Step 10

Open up Audacity. Click on the menu that says generate, and then click Tone...

Step 11

Where it says Frequency, put in a random number and click OK.

Step 12

Click on the menu that says file, then click on Export as MP3. Save it to your desktop with any given name.

Step 13

On the next dialog box, type your name for artist, what you saved it as for title, and a name for your album. Don't mess with anything else.

Step 14

Repeat these steps, saving with different titles and names, not changing artist or album, until you have five tones lasting thirty seconds.

Step 15

Open iTunes. Click on the menu that says file, then click import. Go to your desktop and import each song. Move these to your Phase Music playlist. Re-Sync your iPod again with these new songs on you Phase playlist.

Step 16

Eject your iPod correctly and open Phase. Click on Marathon, Then Hard, after that artists, Next , then finally one of the songs. you will be given five songs to complete. After completing them, you will have unlocked expert difficulty! Congratulations! After that, do these songs on expert marathon to unlock insane! This can be used for all songs. You could do a marathon with songs, but it is hard.

  • An iPod Nano Third Generation, an iPod Classic, or an iPod Fifth Generation
  • A computer running Windows Vista/XP or Mac OS X v.10.3.9 or v.10.4.9 or greater.
