These are just 2 of the ways the draw manga eyes.

This will tell you how to draw those shimmery, fading manga eyes that professionals use.

Step 1

Decide what kind of character you want to draw.

Step 2

Draw a face outline for your manga character.

Step 3

If you're drawing a happy-go-lucky genki girl, or any other happy, innocent sort of character, then draw tall ovals where the eyes should be. For darker, moodier characters, draw a fat oval, or even a long triangle.

Step 4

Draw the upper lid. This should be a thick, curving line that runs along the top of your basic shape. You can adjust this to get different shapes for different characters' eyes.

Step 5

Draw the lower lid. This is a slightly thinner line that runs along the bottom of the shape. Once again, this isn't an exact science, adjust for uniqueness and character.

Step 6

Draw the outline of the colored part of the eye.

Step 7

Now, add the pupils and shines, taking into account your light sources, etc. If your light is coming from above and to the left, the biggest shine will be in the upper left, with smaller shines in the bottom right, and vice versa.

Step 8

Finally, ink your eye, and color if preferred.

Step 9

Finish your character!

Tips

  • Read some manga books and watch anime. This really helps as you see things that you like and if you try and copy them you will eventually develop your own style of eyes

Warnings

  • Remember there are loads and loads of other types of eyes for you to explore and if you are making lots of characters try not to always use the same style of eye as it gets boring. Use lots of different eye styles.

Things You'll Need

  • A pencil
  • Some paper
  • Imagination
