The peace sign is used all over the world and now you can do it too! Used backwards by Churchill to indicate the V for victory at the end of the Second World War.

Step 1

Take the hand you want to do it with and hold it in front of you, open palmed.

Step 2

Now take your fingers, excluding your pointer and middle finger, and fold them into your palm like when you are making a fist.

Step 3

Make sure your thumb is over your other fingers.

Step 4

keep your pointer, and middle finger straight.

Step 5

Stretch out your hand, or raise it in the air.

Step 6

Congratulations! You just did the peace sign!

Tips

  • Use this to show that you want peace
  • Can also be used as a hello to other people
  • Can also be used as a pose when posing for a picture

Warnings

  • Make sure you put your pointer finger and your middle finger out at the same time. If you put your middle finger out first it can mean something very bad in English (and in many other languages).
  • Be sure to point your palm outward when using this gesture. The same gesture with the palm pointing inward is considered an insult in the UK and Australia
  • Don't stick out your little finger; this, too, has an alternate, obscene interpretation.
  • keep your index finger up.
