Have you ever seen the "All Blacks" at the beginning of a rugby game, screaming and beating on their chests? Well, this article will teach you how to look just as tough through, The Hakka!

Step 1

You need some people. The Hakka is generally done in a large group, one should probably have at least three people. But, the more the better.

Step 2

Pick out a leader. The Hakka is done with a group of people responding to the commands of one person yelling while either standing in place or walking through the group.

Step 3

There are many variations of the Hakka. Check Youtube for the words, hands, and body movements used. If you don't like the ones you see, be creative! The Hakka is usually done in Maori but you can do it in English or you could even invent your own language for it! the Hakka can be mixed and recreated as much as you want.

Step 4

Practice it! When you know what you want to do, write it down and try doing it with your friends. Remember that the more you practice the better you'll get.

Step 5

Show off your skills! When you and your friends know how to do it well enough, perform in front of family, friends or for a talent show. When done right the Hakka can be very impressive!

Tips

  • The Hakka is known as an energy dance, so:
    • Yell as loud as you can.
    • Flex your muscles
    • Put on a menacing face
    • Make sure your body movement are swift and aggressive
  • It is possibly not best to learn the 'Haka' from people who don't know how to spell it.

Warnings

  • If you want to perform the Hakka at the beginning of a sporting event, be sure you have permission from those in authority to give it.
  • Let someone know that you're doing it. If you start yelling and beating your chest at someone walking down the street you could get in trouble!

Things You'll Need

  • A group of people (preferably a large group)
  • An audience
