Step 1

Pick the cat up. Get the cat used to being held. If the cat is nervous it may take 2-4 people to sex the cat. Make sure the cat is used to you and is comfortable.

Step 2

Turn so that the cat's behind is facing you. See if you can get the cat to lift it's tail. If you're lucky, you will be dealing with a cat that lifts it's tail a lot. If not, slowly lift their tail. Scratching right on top of their tail will make most cats lift their behinds.

Step 3

Once you have lifted their tails, look at their anus. Look at the picture next to this paragraph. (Click on it to expand)

Step 4

Remember, that if the anus is a circular, it's a male. If it's a slit, it's a female.

Tips

  • Wear leather/denim while doing this. If you don't have protective type clothes like that, wear long sleeved shirts and sweaters while doing this. (Incase the cat attacks!) It doesn't matter as much as if the cat doesn't have claws.
  • Make sure the cat knows you a little bit before you sex it.
  • Let the cat sniff you before you grab them.

Warnings

  • If the cat hisses a lot, put it down and try later.
  • If the cat doesn't know you, don't try this. If the cat is very friendly, then go right ahead. But if it's a scared, stray cat, don't do this.
  • Don't wear only a T-Shirt when doing this.

Things You'll Need

  • A cat
  • 1-4 people (1-4 more people optional)
  • Some time (Cats aren't the best at co-operating!)
