Everyone knows how to make a paper airplane! However, some people actually make quality airplanes that can fly quite well and do some cool tricks. So want to learn how to make a high-quality paper airplane? Read on!

Step 1

Take a piece of paper and draw a tube-like shape. It does not have too be all that big. The shape starts out thin and extends. Draw a tail at the thin end of the shape.

Step 2

Draw two more tube-like shapes: one of them has to be two times bigger (but a little thinner) than the previous shape you drew. The shape starts out thin, extends towards the middle, and decreases towards the other shape. The other one uses the same technique but is a lot smaller.

Step 3

Label all the parts as shown in the picture to the right. Now take the scissors and cut the shapes out. Also, cut the dotted lines. Put the shape together. Parts shown with arrows go together and should be the same length.

Step 4

Take a paper clip and attach it to the front of the airplane. You are ready to fly your plane! You can make it fly straight or make it do tricks by putting the flaps on wings or tail up and down. If you turn the tail you will make the airplane turn. Experiment more.

Tips

  • Try to make everything symmetric.
  • Measure everything and be precise.
  • Using construction paper is recommended, but you can use normal paper too (construction paper is just more durable and there is a bigger chance of your plane flying).
  • You can use tape or glue to make sure that wings and tale are attached properly.
  • If your plane drops instead of flying try using lighter load (replace paper-clip with something lighter).

Warnings

  • If you do not put the paper clip on to the front part of the plane, it will not fly because it will be too light.
  • Avoid using very weak paper.

Things You'll Need

  • Some Construction Paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Paper Clip
  • Ruler
  • A book on how to make a paper airplane.
