Doing Jack Sparrow? Gotta have those sexy smokey eyes!

Like the androgynous glam rockers of the Seventies before, we¹ve have been captivated by a man who knows how to rock a little strategically worn makeup. Those mysterious smoky eyes are the finishing touch to that authentic Pirate Jack look.

Step 1

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap before you start.

Step 2

Apply a good base with something specifically designed as an eye base or any regular concealer.

Step 3

Apply in a patting motion with your ring finger across eyelid, in the inside corner, and even a little bit underneath.

Step 4

Use soft and somewhat powdery kohl eyeliner or black eyeliner to start with.

Step 5

Lift just under your eyebrow with your finger to smooth out your upper lid.

Step 6

Starting at the inside corner of one eye; draw a medium sized line along your lash line.

Step 7

Do the same on the other side.

Step 8

Place the finger from your non-drawing hand in the center directly under your eye.

Step 9

Very gently pull that finger down just slightly... just enough to see that inner rim or water line.

Step 10

Draw another line just along that lower lash line.

Step 11

With your angle brush, apply a little shadow just above that line on your upper eyelid.

Step 12

Do the same underneath your eyes, brushing the shadow down a little further.

Step 13

For Pirate Jack, you are going to blend old school with your fingers.

Step 14

Using that ring finger again smudge out that upper eyeliner, blending it all over your eyelid.

Step 15

With that same kohl-y finger, gently rub under your eyes, from the inside out and in something of a half-circle.

Step 16

To finish, dust a little bit of a colorless translucent powder to set your fabulous eyes.

Tips

  • Appling base-The first step in the application of any eye makeup should always be a good base
  • This extra step will help keep your eyes looking fresh all Halloween long.
  • Warm that eyeliner pencil up by drawing a little on the back of your hand. It makes for smoother application.
  • Bend your mascara brush to make it easier. Place the mascara brush in the tube just far enough for the end of the brush and bend and bend the stock gently.

Warnings

  • Remove all traces of eye makeup up with a gentle eye makeup remover at the end of the evening.
  • Don't share makeup and do be mindful of the cleanliness of your makeup. Replace base at least annually, because bacteria can grow in it.

Things You'll Need

  • Black kohl eyeliner
  • angled brush
  • powdered eyeshadow in a deep smokey shade.
