To fulfill a Sim's hunger, they need to eat, whether it's getting take-out, pizza delivery, or cooking their own food. Unlike Sims 1, Sims have the ability to create numerous dishes depending on their cooking level.

Step 1

Learn that each Sim starts with a level zero. To build their cooking levels, they can either read a cooking book, watch the cooking channel on TV, or gain knowledge by cooking.

Step 2

Click on the refrigerator. There will be different options of meals to prepare. Depending on the time of day, categories includes breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, and dessert.

Step 3

Choose between single or group meals. Single meals are prepared and consumed by that specific Sim. If a Sim prepares a group meal, the finished meal will be left on the counter until it is completely gone or if someone "cleans up". Group meals are four times more expensive than single meals and will use ingredients to make.

Step 4 Learn the different foods and levels in Sims 2

  • Level 0 = juice, cookie, chips, instant meal, cereal, pastry, sandwiches, TV dinner, hot dog, mac & cheese, gelatin, bass with squash (only in Seasons Expansion Pack)
  • Level 1 = spaghetti
  • Level 2 = grilled cheese sandwich, blackened catfish (only in Seasons Expansion Pack)
  • Level 3 = pancakes, chef's salad, hamburger
  • Level 4 = omelet, chili con carne, stuffed rainbow trout (only in Seasons Expansion Pack)
  • Level 5 = pork chop
  • Level 6 = salmon, turkey (group meal only), layer cake, stuffed golden trout (only in Seasons Expansion Pack)
  • Level 7 = grilled ribs (group meal only)
  • Level 8 = baked Alaska
  • Level 10 = lobster thermidor

Tips

  • If you have more than one Sim, try to make group meals as much as possible. This saves time and money for all the Sims in your family.
  • Food will burn if something cooking is unattended or if the Sim's cooking level is lower than the food's level. Unattended foods occur when a Sim tries to prepare something in the oven and leaves for work during that time.
  • To become the head chef of a restaurant, a Sim must have a level 10 in cooking. If the cooking level is lower than 10, you must edit the restaurant menu and omit the foods that your Sim can't make.
  • To achieve greater hunger satisfaction, have the Sim with the greatest amount of cooking knowledge prepare group meals.
  • You can also add new foods to your game by downloading and installing them into your game folder. They may come with their own cooking level, so be aware.

Things You'll Need

  • Sims 2
  • Seasons Expansion Pack, in order to make other foods
  • Internet connection, to download and install new foods
