For those of you wondering, there is a very simple way off getting around the fact that the Xbox 360 only uses the 100$ Microsoft made Wireless adapter, using only the Ethernet cable that comes with the Xbox, a computer/PC, and your Xbox 360.
Step 1
Make sure to have either your wireless laptop or wireless PC, close enough to your Xbox for the Ethernet cable to reach.
Step 2
Turn on your computer but NOT your Xbox 360. (Make sure to have your Xbox 360 plugged in, just not on)
Step 3
Sign in to your computer and go to the Start Menu.
Step 4
Click on the control panel, then Network and Internet Connections.
Step 5
Click on Network Connection, (has a picture of a cable plugged into the globe).
Step 6
Find the wireless connection you are currently using, right click, and go to properties(usually the last option when you right-click).
Step 7
Go to the advanced tab and where it says Internet Connection Sharing click the first option, allow other network users to connect through this computers internet connection. Next click the second option as well. Then click OK.
Step 8
Now plug your Ethernet cable into both the computer, and the Xbox 360.
Step 9
Power on the Xbox 360. Congratulations you should now be able to connect to Xbox live, no settings on the xbox or the computer need to be changed besides these. Leave the Xbox settings all to automatic.
Tips
- Don't try and fool around with other settings, you DON'T need to. Just these will work perfectly
- Do not turn off the computer, this is the only catch, if the computer is turned off the connection will be broken.
Warnings
- Do NOT turn off the computer (Well you can but it will not give your Xbox a connection.)
