You're finally home, it's time to light up some fireworks! You open the box and realize you got mostly mini fountains in your variety pack. Your show is not doomed. Read on to find out how.
Step 1
Buy fireworks in advance whenever possible. That way it's easier to make changes in plenty of time for your event.
Step 2
Save a few soda cans. These will eventually form a base.
Step 3
Use scissors or tin snips to cut the top and bottom off of two cans, then cut the cylinders that are left top to bottom.
Step 4
Flatten the aluminum pieces. Cut both pieces shorter so all sides are equal lengths.
Step 5
Overlap the squares, then turn 45 degrees (1/8 of the way around). Tape the pieces together this way with paper tape or masking tape.
Step 6
Take one of the soda can bottoms and turn it so the bulge is facing upwards. Cut evenly spaced slits vertically around the edge of the can, reaching to where the can touches the tabletop.
Step 7
Use pliers or a small hammer or mallet and push the sharp edges down to lay horizontally on the tabletop.
Step 8
Place the can bottom bulge-up on top of the aluminum squares. Tape bulge to center of the squares. This bulge is the turning base.
Step 9
Bend the corners of the squares up and back. Flatten in a position to allow a rounder edge but maximum surface area.
Step 10
Turn no more than three mini fountains horizontal and place them on the outer edge of the upper side. Place them wick to base, but not so close they could burn each others' bases.
Step 11
Place on a large clear driveway or blacktop . Make sure everyone (except two buddies) is at least the height of the fountain's distance away.
Step 12
Your two buddies coordinate their lighting with yours so all the fountains get lit at the same time.
Step 13
Hustle back a ways and enjoy your unique firework.
Tips
- To make an even more interesting show, use something non-flammable to prop the fountains up diagonally.
- You can vary the colors of the fountains you use if the height is similar.
- With experience, you can make many specialized spinner shows. Just remember to keep a safe distance from the fire and you always keep the base balanced.
Warnings
- Gloves should be worn to prevent cuts from sharp metal.
- Do not approach a firework that fails to work, and douse it with water
- Follow all warning labels
