Do you know how to properly clean and cut your nails? It is so essential that you do. It may not seem important, but is actually as important as washing your hair and having a bath/shower.

Step 1

Clean your hands (and wrists) with soap and warm water. This will prevent the build up of bacteria on your hands and may prevent dirt under your nails getting worse.

Step 2

Use a CLEAN nail brush to clean under your nails. Make sure it is clean, because otherwise you may be transferring dirt and skin cells back under your nails (Yuck!)

Step 3

Wash off all the soap and dry your hands -on a clean, soft towel.

Step 4

While your nails are soft, cut them. The more often you cut them (before they get too long), the stronger they will grow out to be.

Step 5

Use a nail file (only use in one direction).

Step 6

Use a hand lotion/cream. Don't worry if you cant though, because I don't all the time, and my hands are fine and always soft! :D.

Step 7

Do this routine every day. (But only cut your nails when necessary, otherwise your nails will be too short).

Tips

  • Always do this after you have ridden a bike, gone rock climbing ect. (Anything rough on your hands)
  • Take care of your hands... they are very important!
  • If you play a musical instrument, as I do (the violin) Make sure your nails aren't too long, as it may make it difficult to play.
  • Do the same with your feet, as they support your weight all day, and get tired out too.
  • If your nails are all different lengths then cut them all really short and let them grow together-if they start growing diffrently then cut the big ones until they are the same as the others.

Warnings

  • DO NOT bite your nails
  • Do not pick at the skin around your nails (A bad habit!)

Things You'll Need

  • Nail cleaner
  • Warm water
  • Hand cream (Optional)
  • Soap
