Ever wondered how your fellow gamers obtain the general symbol next to their gamer tag? Want to be one of the best in Halo 3? Well this article will help** you. Remember this article explains only one way to get the general rank but you need to recall that there are many other ways. None of these steps require you to hack! Do not cheat and always play fair.

Step 1

Try playing doubles. The easiest play list to get a general ranking is in team doubles. Unless you have a great group of four players, you should play double team. You can play with a friend or not but playing with one is highly recommended.

Step 2

Play slayer. Most circumstances in Halo 3 require you to kill your opponent(s). Since objective based game types are mostly not in double team, you should learn how to kill.

Step 3

Start off by playing lone wolves. Not as a warm-up but as a lesson. It will teach you how to roam alone and how to deal with 1v1 battles (or more). You can use what you've learned in lone wolves and apply it to double team. Think about it, if you can defeat 7 other people by yourself, how hard will it be to defeat only 2 people with a teammate?

Step 4

Get a good friend or a well known player to play with you in doubles. Learn each others techniques, strategies, and just become one with your teammate. I know it sounds a little stupid but it is proven that people who work together, win together.

Step 5

Play double team. Use the methods you learned in lone wolves into double team.

Step 6

Remember to follow the rules of thumb for Halo 3. Finish off each others kills, get map control, communicate, and try not to stress too much over a video game ;)

Tips

  • Don't let a few losses get you down. Always go into a game confident and ready to play.
  • This may sound cruel but if you really need to get a new partner, get one. If you go positive and he goes negative almost every time, you need to move on and get a new partner. I know it sounds cruel but if you really want that 50, you might as well.
  • Remember, once you become a Level 50 it won't matter if you drop down back to a level 1. This works because Halo 3 records your highest skill ever achieved in your gaming history. Unfortunately, you can lose EXP for quitting. For example: 10/9/07 - You get a level 50 and have 600 EXP.(You are a general.) 10/10/07 - you drop down to a level 47 and still have 600 EXP. (You are a general.) 10/11/07 - you drop down to a level 44 and have 598 EXP for quitting twice. (You are not a general.) In short, you just have to be a level 50 once but you have to keep your EXP 600 or above.
  • Don't give up. Losing a few games may result in you wanting to give up all together. There are always better players, but how did they get that good? Practice. Going back to play social slayer against guests is not going to improve your gameplay. Playing against players that challenge your gaming comfort zone will result in many deaths, on both sides, but at the same time, you'll be learning and expanding your techniques in combat situations.
  • Read the "related wikiHow" articles below to learn some simple strategies and tips on how to improve your skill. (Will be added later on.)
  • Play fun but play smart.
  • Don't over do it: Playing into the early morning, craving that 50 will not get you anywhere. Your reactions will be limited and your anger will only increase. Remember, through out the day, take regular breaks. This doesn't mean run 200 miles, swim the Atlantic, and climb Everest, this means taking 10-20 minute breaks every so often, you'll see a great change in your focus and attention if you do.

Warnings

  • Refrain from cheating because you will lose your X-box live account and may even have your X-box banned from X-box live.
  • This is only one way to get a level 50 and by far one of the easiest. If you want to try to get a 50 in objective, slayer, etc., then go right ahead. This is only suggested.
  • Do not buy your 50. Whilst you may here about people buying their 50, you cannot trust a complete stranger to give you a 50, or create one for you. Most of the time they will ask for Microsoft points, or Live membership codes. Most of these transaction result in loss to the owner, the person selling the 50 will most likely just recover the account from you, and keep the payment.
  • -- Side note -- If you buy your 50, successfully lets say, will you be playing like a true General? No, you will only further disgrace the once creditable name. If you earn your 50 however, you will be able to hold your own ground in battle and play like a true General.

Things You'll Need

  • Xbox 360
  • Halo 3
  • Legendary maps
  • Heroic maps
  • Xbox Live
  • A headset, communication is vital.
possible - Good team mates, for Team Slayer, or a Good team mate for Doubles.
