A Bible Geek knows the Bible like a Linux kernel hacker knows C, like an airline pilot knows how to fly, like a sports freak can quote basketball statistics. He is obsessed with the Bible, and all related aspects.

Ask a Bible Geek about any subject; math, science, philosophy, or religion, and he has a Bible based answer. If YOU want to become a Bible Geek, then this is how.

Step 1

Pray about it. Become a Christian. Why? There are things in the Bible that you will NEVER understand without God actually revealing them to you. Really! If you follow all of the following steps, yet have no divine guidance, you will be missing a very important part, the core. See Become a Christian.

Step 2

Get a feel for the Bible by reading it from cover to cover a couple of times. There are marvelous reading plans for this. A suggestion is the 90 Day reading plan, using the 90 Day Bible [1].

Step 3

Study intensely in a general way. Get Learn the Bible in 24 Hours along with the workbook and learn how the Bible handles time, creation, prophecy. Study a comprehensive presentation of the bible and make notes.

Step 4

While doing step 3, memorize, memorize, memorize. There are key scriptures that you must know like the back of your hand and be able to recite them [2]. See the aforementioned website, flashcards, computer software (there's some good PDA stuff out there also), but memorize. There is a good list here (http://www.bible.org/page.asp?page_id=818) of scriptures to memorize.

Step 5

Take the following classes at your local university: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, computer programming. They will help you become conversant on a scientific level. The Computer programming class will give you an edge in Biblical Cryptography.

Tips

  • Don't expect this to happen all at once. It will take years, but the results that you see right away will astound you!
  • Start every morning with prayer and study.
  • Listen to a lot of Bible Geek stuff on MP3 from the links mentioned above.

Warnings

  • Beware of cultic mentality.
  • Never think that you have come to the end of your knowledge. There will always be more to learn! If you think you know everything, then try writing a program to ferret patterns out of raw Hebrew based on physical constants like PI, e, etc. That will blow your mind!
  • Remember that knowing every detail of the Bible will not necessarily help you to become a better Christian.

Things You'll Need

  • Several translations of the Bible.
  • A good computer
  • A humble, teachable attitude
  • Some Bible software like e-Sword
