Have you ever wondered why you just can't keep Fido in the tub? Bathing dogs can be a stressful situation if they are not used to it, and reading this article will help.

Step 1

Gather your dog and treats. Clip your leash on the dog and lead him near the bathroom.

Step 2

Step one foot away from the open bathroom door. Praise your dog, click (if you clicker train), and treat. Give lots of treats and praise for about two minutes.

Step 3

Repeat this every day, 3 times. Every day, get one foot closer to the tub. Make sure you give him lots of pats 'n praise.

Step 4

Finally get your dog close to the tub. Get your dog about 1 foot from the tub. Repeat the above steps, except come to the same spot 3 times a day for one week.

Step 5

Get your dog into the tub. Click, praise, reward, treats, etc. Do this 5 times a day for 1 week. Do not try to give your dog a bath while doing this, as this just helps your dog to know he gets treats for going into the tub.

Step 6

Slowly turn on the water. If your dog freaks, help him calm down, and give him lots of treats. Try to continue bathing your dog.
