Thanksgiving Day in America is a time to celebrate and give thanks, it is a time of families getting together and enjoying a holiday dinner, usually consisting of turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie. Write the name of the family member, the date, and a few words to fit the occasion, and place on the table to show each where they will be seated. What a wonderful way to say welcome, and a great way to remember this Thanksgiving day for years to come.

Step 1

Click here to get image and then print out the full size image on a heavy paper, like card stock or construction paper.

Step 2

Click on and print out the image on the right in a similar manner with heavy paper.

Use a ruler as a guide,and take the rounded end of a paper clip (or a ballpoint pen that has run out of ink) and press along the dotted line on the center of the card. Go all the way from the top to the bottom of the card!

Step 4

Once again using the same ruler as a guide, and the same paper clip and pen, press along the dotted lines of all the pop-up pieces.

Step 5

Carefully cut out the turkey's card following the solid, black lines.

Cut out the pop-up pieces for the turkey following the solid, black lines.

Notice that now your Thanksgiving card is finished!

Take the turkey and align the leg tabs with the glue areas.

Get hold of the feather piece and very carefully align the tabs with the glue areas on the turkey. Make sure the outer parts of the feathers go in front of the turkey's body as indicated by the red arrows.

Hold the leg tab at the right side of the turkey and fold it back away from the body.

Take hold of the tab at the bottom of the feathers.

Fold the turkey feather pop-up piece back away from you along the long, center dotted line.

Crease with your fingers.

Take hold of the tab at the bottom of the feathers.

Do the same with the upper section of feathers and fold backwards.

Carefully take hold of the very top section of feathers and fold forward.

Make sure that your finished feather piece looks like this. Set this piece aside.

Take the turkey and fold the body in half along the center fold line. The center fold line should be moving away from you and the outer edges of the turkey should be coming towards you.

Hold the leg tab at the left side of the turkey and fold it back away from the body.

Turn the turkey piece over. It should now look like this, with the head and neck, as well as the leg tabs, coming forward.

Now turn the turkey back over again and apply glue to the areas marked "glue here."

Press the feather piece firmly into the glue so both pop-up pieces are flat.

This is how your finished turkey should now look. Important Make sure the outer parts of the feathers come in front of the turkey as shown.

Take the card and fold it in half along the center fold line. Crease well, then open again.

Apply glue to the areas marked "glue here."

Press the turkey onto the card. The turkey should lay completely flat when applied to the card. Let the glue dry!

Wait until after the glue has dried, then carefully close the pop up card.

Tips

Send this card to friends or use it to decorate your own house. You might also consider making a Christmas tree pop-up card.
Use trimming scissors to trim rounded areas.
Sprinkle or use glitter paint to make your cards sparkle.
