Why Changing Your Wiper Blades Is Important

The last thing you want is to get caught in a storm and discover that your windshield wiper blades do not properly keep the water, snow, or ice off your windshield. Not only will this be annoying, but could also lead to an auto accident.

Keeping your car well maintained will help keep you safe and also help the resell value if you should decide to sell the car. In this tutorial, you will learn how to replace your windshield yourself, so you will always have the best vision possible storming or not.

This only takes a few minutes and does not require special tools or knowledge to do this yourself. Your car is probably your second biggest expense (overall cost and maintenance), so by learning to do a few of these things yourself, you will save money by not paying a repair shop, and you'll save time without the scheduling and waiting around. If you follow the few simple steps below and watch the short video above, you will be able to replace your windshield wipers yourself in only a few minutes.

Step 1 Buy New Wiper Blades

To save time, plan ahead by purchasing your windshield wipers when you are already at the store. There is no need to make a special trip to Walmart or any other store. Planning ahead will save time. To assure you buy the correct wiper blades, you can measure the length of the wiper blades and buy the same length. If you forget to measure, all you have to do is look at your make and model on a chart at the store and the chart will tell you which blades to use. If all else fails, you can always ask someone at the store to help you.

Step 2 Remove the Old Wiper Blade

Remove the old wiper blade by pushing the clip down where the wiper blade and wiper arm connect. Pull down and the blade will come off. This should only take a second or two.

Step 3 Compare Wiper Blades

To assure you have the correct wiper blade, you can compare the new blade to the old blade to make certain they are that they same length.

Step 4 Install New Wiper Blade

The new wiper blades goes on by reversing the process. Do the same thing, but in reverse sequence when installing. Make sure you hear a click. This assures the blade is locked into place.

Step 5 Repeat for Other Side

Now all you have to do is to repeat the process for the other side and you’re done.

This may sound like a lot of steps, but it really is not. You should be able to change them in a lot less time than it took to read and watch this tutorial.

This is a simple task, but may eliminate an unnecessary accident, which can lead to headache by dealing with shops, insurance companies, and being without your car.
