Schoolwork is always made so much easier when you purchase the proper school supplies. Organization is the key to knowing where everything is, and locating important papers. Proper school supplies will also get you higher grades, because you will always know just where to find things.
Step 1
Make a list of things you need, such as:
- Pencils,Pens,Colour Pencils
- Long Ruler,Eraser,'White Out'
- Highlighters,Glue, Scissors
- Protractor, Mini Calculator
Step 2
Buy organizational supplies.
Step 3
Keep all papers flat, unbent, and unripped. This way, you don't have paper sticking out of the top of your binder, and it also helps the papers that you need to keep stay fresh.
Step 4
Try not to use the pockets on the side of your binders to store loose papers. This is being lazy and not putting them in the place in your binder where it belongs (such as somewhere in one of the dividers). Usually if you put just a few loose papers in the pouch, it starts building up and getting out of hand.
Step 5
Have folders. Instead of carrying all of your binders home from school, create a homework folder to take home everyday. The less you carry around your binders to get ripped and worn, the longer they will last.
Step 6

Keep everything hole punched. (Some pencil cases or rulers have three hole punches attached to them.) This will help things stay out of the "loose papers pocket" on the inside of your binder. Carry a pencil case. This will help you be prepared for every class. Always have paper. This will also help you be prepared for class.
Step 7
Have a place to keep papers at home. You could use folders or small containers. This way you can clean out your locker or backpack and keep important papers (that you don't need for class)at home. You can pull them out when ever you need to study for a test and will keep you from having TOO MUCH stuff at school.
Step 8
At home and school, try to keep all your stuff in a general area (at home: a desk at school: your book bag).
Tips
- If you have a locker, keep it clean and organized. Using a shelf in your locker will help hold more books and binders too.
- A Science or Social Studies book that is just long enough also makes a great shelf. But, make sure you don't use the book every day, maybe once a month. Also be sure to take care of the book!
- Never put all of your books laying flat on top of each other. It will be hard to get them out quickly and get to the next class on time.
- If you have extra school supplies that won't fit in your pencil case,(say if you bought four glue sticks but don't want to have to lug all of them around when you only need one) then keep them in a small box in your locker/desk. Then if you need another one (ex. your glue stick just ran out of glue) then you just grab another out of the box.
- It's a great idea to color code your subjects(using rainbow colors is the easiest), for example, math-blue, notebook, binder, highlighter would all be blue.
