In this video from goodtoknowcouk we learn how to make a steak and mushroom pudding. Ingredients for this are 450-500 g casserole beef, diced, 1 onion, peeled and chopped, 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, 200-250 g button mushrooms, 2 tablespoons plain flour, salt, pepper, 150 ml Guinness, Worcestershire sauce, 250 g self raising flour for pastry, 125 g suet for pastry, 150 ml water for pastry, large bowl. Add everything to a bowl and mix this all up so meat gets coated with the flour. To make the pastry, add flour and and suet into bowl, adding salt and pepper. Mix this up and add water mixing into a dough. Now roll this out on the work surface, lifting and turning it so it doesn't stick to the surface. Butter a bowl. Cut out a quarter of the dough to use for this lid. Place the rest into the bowl, pressing it to seal it against the sides of the bowl and bottom and top. Now put filling inside the pie. Add worcestershire sauce to guinness and pour over the top. Brush water on ingredients in bowl and add the piece of the dough for the lid to the top. Now steam this. Cover in baking parchment and seal it in foil. To steam have a pot of water and add some white vinegar to it as well. Now put pudding in a steamer cover with lid, and put it on to steam it. Steam constantly and check that the bottom pan is not running out of water. Check every 30 minutes to see this. Steam for about 3 1/2 to 4 hours. When finished steaming, remove foil and parchment. Loosen around the edge with a palette knife. Now tip onto a plate with a lip, lift up the bowl. Cut into it and you're ready to eat.
