There is so much more you do with the new feature introduced by Microsoft. It allows you to connect your entire computer and Internet media library to your Xbox 360. With high speed internet, Windows Vista, and an Xbox 360; you can practically use your computer on your television!

Step 1

Purchase the necessary items. (See "Things You'll Need for entire list.) Basically, you will need a computer like Windows Vista, an Xbox 360, and a high speed Internet connection.

Step 2

Set up all your necessities. Set up your Internet. Make sure you have your Xbox 360 connected to the internet via Ethernet cable/CAT 5 or a wireless receiver. Also, connect your PC to your modem either by Ethernet/CAT 5 or wireless. (Connecting via Ethernet/CAT 5 is much more faster.)

Step 3

Turn on your Xbox 360 and PC. Both must be on at the same time.

  • Xbox 360: Go to the "Media" tab on your Xbox 360. Scroll down and click on "Media Center." It will give you a code and tell you to input this into your computer's Media Center application.
  • Computer: Go to the "Windows Media Center" program on your PC.
    • Go to "Tasks" and then click "Add Extender."
    • Click "Next."
    • Type in the 8 digit code that you saw on your Xbox 360 earlier and click "OK." The Xbox 360 will automatically recognize your entry and will enable Media Center for itself.

Tips

  • Download Media Center attachments for an even greater experience. You can download studio channels which allows you to view TV shows.
  • Download Yougle to watch Get Better Search Results on YouTube on your big screen television. YouTube now has a feature that allows you to view videos in higher quality. That will come in handy when using your HDTV to play YouTube videos.
  • Use wires! Using an Ethernet/CAT 5 cable can almost quadruple your connection strength. A 6-7 MPBS wireless connection will allow you view a little over standard quality(SD) television; vs. a wired connection that provides full, high resolution picture and audio quality.
  • Consider downloading HD movies and more media from the Xbox Live Marketplace. It will cost you about $7 per movie but the playback speed and resolution will be better than Media Center.
  • Mingle with the different features of Windows Media Center and discover. You can view your photos, listen to radio, watch live TV, watch movies and more on your television.

Warnings

  • Don't leave your computer or Xbox 360 on all night to download content. Doing so may cause an over heating situation.

Things You'll Need

  • Xbox 360
  • PC with Windows Vista or XP with Media Center installed
  • Internet service provider (ISP)
  • Internet devices (router, modem, etc.)
