For the holiday season, a great knitting project is a snowflake design. It's perfect for handmade Christmas gifts. You can knit just one, or a row of them, or use them as full pattern on a sweater or blanket—or whatever project you choose.

Cast on 23 stitches. Work 22 rows. Start from bottom.

  1. Knit (K) - 6 green, 1 white, 9 green, 1 white, 6 green
  2. Purl (P) - 6 green, 2 white, 7 green, 2 white,  6 green
  3. K - 6 green, 3 white, 5 green, 3 white, 6 green
  4. P - 6 green, 4 white, 3 green, 4 white, 6 green
  5. K - 6 green, 5 white, 1 green, 5 white, 6 green
  6. P - 5 white, 2 green, 4 white,  1 green, 4 white, 2 green, 5 white
  7. K - 1 green, 5 white, 2 green, 3 white, 1 green, 3 white, 2 green, 5 white, 1 green
  8. P - 2 green, 5 white, 2 green, 2 white, 1 green, 2 white,  2 green, 5 white, 2 green
  9. K - 3 green, 5 white, 2 green, 1 white, 1 green, 1 white, 2 green, 5 white, 3 green
  10. P - 4 green, 5 white, 2 green, 1 white, 2 green, 5 white,  4 green
  11. K - 10 green, 3 white, 10 green

You're now halfway done.

You will now reverse the directions above to finish:

  1. P - 10 green, 3 white, 10 green 
  2. K - 4 green, 5 white, 2 green, 1 white, 2 green, 5 white,  4 green
  3. P - 3 green, 5 white, 2 green, 1 white, 1 green, 1 white, 2 green, 5 white, 3 green
  4. K - 2 green, 5 white, 2 green, 2 white, 1 green, 2 white,  2 green, 5 white, 2 green
  5. P - 1 green, 5 white, 2 green, 3 white, 1 green, 3 white, 2 green, 5 white, 1 green
  6. K - 5 white, 2 green, 4 white, 1 green, 4 white, 2 green, 5 white
