How To: Keep Your Fitted Caps Fresh

Keep Your Fitted Caps Fresh

This tutorial is for all fitted fanatics like me out there. I've been wearing fitted caps and snapbacks since I was in elementary school, and it has become a part of who I am. However, I also know that fitted caps and snapbacks are expensive, especially those from brand name companies such as New Era. That is why it is important to me to make sure that my hats remain wearable and stylish as long as possible. The following are some steps I take to make sure that my hats don't become too dirty, and don't lose their shapes.

Step 1 Don't leave your hats out!

  • Don't leave your hats out in the open. Many people (I did, as well) leave their hats outside or hang them on the wall. It makes the room look cooler, but it also attracts lint and dust.
  • Keep your hats on a shelf in your closet, or even hang them. This will prevent lint and dust from gathering on top of them.
  • You can also buy a cap carrier in which you can place your hats.  These are made to keep hats in shape and clean.

Step 2 Keep them clean!

  • If you do leave your hats out, make sure you take time weekly to clean off any dust or lint that gathers on top.
  • You can do this by brushing the cap with a lint brush. Many hat stores such as Lids or New Era carry brushes that you can buy for about $5.
  • If you cannot find a lint brush, you can also use lint rollers. They also cost about $5, but they do run out. If you are concerned about keeping your hats clean, I suggest you invest in a lint brush.

Step 3 Please be careful!

  • Do not crush your hats!  Many people do this; they place their hats in their bags and then place it somewhere that it gets squished.  This crushes the hat inside the bag, making it lose its shape.  Try your best to make sure that you place hat somewhere that it won't be crushed.

Tips!

  • Try to avoid rain while wearing your hats. This especially applies if you want the stickers on your hats to stay intact.
  • If you always want your hats to smell good, throw some Bounce Dryer Sheets inside of the cap when you're not wearing them.

EXPENSIVE!

  • Remember that hats cost a lot, so if you want avoid spending lot of money, keep the hats that you have in good condition.
  • Hat carriers also cost a lot, so if you're on a budget, I suggest just making a place in your closet where you can keep your hats.

Keep It Fresh!

I know it might seem like I'm doing a lot to keep something as simple as hats clean.  Think of it like this, I work hard to buy something that I really like, so why shouldn't I make sure that I am able to wear them as long as possible? So to all the fitted hat fanatics out there, keep it clean, don't crush them, and stay fresh!
