Okay so, you straighten your hair daily, and you don't want to completely fry it? Well, straightening can completely destroy you hair, so it's understandable for you to try and stop the process (or at least slow it down). Try these steps and it should definitely help with the damage control.

Step 1

If you're a girl, or have long hair (shoulder-length or longer) the you should first blow dry your hair, in sections, with a good quality hair dryer.

  • Try and get one with an ionic diffuser, it helps lower the amount of frizz in your hair.
  • Also try and get a hair-dryer attachment called a 'diffuser', it helps not to blow your hair around and takes down frizz, it controls heat and brings the temperature of the air down, this doesn't affect how fast your hair dries. If you have under shoulder length hair then you shouldn't have to worry about this.

Step 2

Straighten your hair in sections, don't just randomly pull at your hair in one large mass. It's very bad for it.

  • To do this, get a hair clip and hair elastic. Separate the upper layers of hair from the one closest to your neck and pull the upper layers into a pony-tail, then clip the pony-tail to the back of your head, about the under layer.
  • Add a heat-protection product (not a very large amount, pea sized at most), to the layer you are straightening and distribute evenly. Straighten this layer of hair.
  • When you are done, re-peat this step until you get to the upper-most portion of hair.

Step 3

Add a good softening serum to all of your hair and distribute it evenly through the layers. Don't add too much of this serum, it will make your hair seem greasy.

Tips

  • Make sure you don't straighten your hair unless you're going somewhere, if your going to be at home lounging all day, then feel free to leave it curly or wavy.
  • Don't straighten your hair if it's already straight.
  • Get the tips trimmed monthly, you'll be surprised how much it can help.
  • Try and get heat protection shampoos and conditioners.
  • Don't use more than three different hair products at once, this can actually damage hair follicles.
  • Try leave in conditioner.
  • Get a Titanium straightner, they don't damage your hair.
