Having trouble fly fishing? Not catching anything? Maybe you need to know the best spot where you need to cast off. Scott Linden from MyOutdoorTV, shows us where he casts to catch the best trout.
You know how I feel about the most important thing in fly fishing is "Stop." Here's why. You want to plot a strategy for this piece of water. Let's start at the far downstream end and work our way up.
Here's where I put my cast: a "pool." In this pool, slow moving water forms a V. That V is going to concentrate all the food, and if there's a concentration of food there's probably going to be a concentration of trout.
My next cast would be along the far bank where the rock face is going to slow down the water, the fish are going to hang against it, and watch for food coming down the outside of that current.
Behind every large rock lies a small pocket of water. It's moving slower, stopped by the rock. Fish will hang there and they will look for food as it cruises past. Likewise, food will funnel between the rocks. Fish will hang alongside the rocks as well as in front of the rocks where there is also a "hydraulic cushion."
