How To: Make a corset out of an old pair of pants

Do you have an old pair of jeans hanging around? Maybe they don't fit anymore, or perhaps they are out of style? With a few stitches, you can turn that ugly old pair of pants into a stylish corset top.
All you need is the pants and a sewing machine, with a couple buttons or strings to lace it up.

How to make an old pair of pants into a cool Corset Top:
Process:
Step 1:
If you still plan to use these pants as shorts cut a little above the knee all the way across. Make sure the both sides are of equal length.

Step 2:
If you have a de-threader use it to cut the seams if not cut on the seam long wise so you have both sides of the pants open

Step 3:
From here you will sew both sides of the pants together so you get one long piece of material.

Step 4:
You want to Hem all sides of the material so it looks clean and even.

Step 5:
Make sure the material will fit properly across your torso.. if you need more fabric cut a bit more of the pants and sew the piece together.

Step 6:
Now if you have the clips/clasps for the corset make sure to leave one - two fingers of space between each. [Since I'm using a shoelace I'm placing two fingers of space between each button hole]

Step 7:
Make sure each side matches when placing clasps/clips/buttons/button holes
[If make button holes don't forget to open them so you can pass the shoelace or ribbon through]

Step 8:
Put it on and tada nice new top!
