My window unit is not cooloing like it used to. I have three years with it it. It runs good but just not the same. Do they require freon?

I have an attic unit that needs the A coil cleaned. It doesn't make sense to drag a garden hose into the attic. How is this done to a unit without wrecking the house and attic? A company I have talked to says they spray in down with degreaser solution, let the gunk drip into the pan (and run to where?), and then spray the unit out with compressed air. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

How do I clean a unit that's goes through the side of the house (a hole made through the siding)? Can I do it without removing it?

I had my outside Trane professionally cleaned. He used an acid I believe and it cleaned the coils, but he left all the debri in the pan on the inside. He said it would be ok. Should he have vaccumed it out?

Hi there,

Just watched your video on coil cleaning. Thank you!.

We are purchasing a home in the country and the entire furnace/evap cooler is in the attic in the very windy/dusty town of Amarillo, Tx. My excellent home inspector says the unit needs a pan under it and also a drain line with 2 separate exits so if one gets stopped up the other will work. I have no problems with the plumbing side of it - just need to find the drain hole on the unit and trace it (hopefully) to an outside exit. How do we get a pan under this enormous beast, though? Where do we buy a pan? I'm assuming the unit will be very dirty due to the fact that the home is a foreclosure and the former owner had no filter in the air intake whatsoever. The last time I priced getting coils cleaned for a client, it was in the thousands of dollars, so we cannot really afford to hire this service out. Also, there is no shut-off at the pole outside, so all I could do is turn every breaker switch off in the house (which is obviously unsafe - we will be hiring an expensive electrician to put a main shut off outside). Lastly, where does one purchase a 'coil comb' (the outside condensor has been hail damaged, but I'd like to extend it's life as much as possible) and the akaline based coil cleaner?

I was about to go up there with a box of q-tips, a small trashcan and a vacuum....(laughing)

Thank you for a quick response!!

My Air drip line to my airc conditioner continues to back up. I have suctioned it several times added warm waster and clorax but still have this intermittent problem. Is there any way to add a pump so that it automaticaly sucks up the water outside and prevent backups?
