Approach a dog safely A- 1:51

Dogs and puppies often look cute and harmless. We sometimes forget they are still animals, and thus somewhat unpredictable. Dogs can feel threatened or scared upon meeting new people and despite their cuddly appearance they can bite, so you must learn how to approach a dog safely. Particularly at risk are children, who may be unaware of the potential danger, and moreover is at a face-to-face level with the dog. Three simple steps are important to abide by and teach your children. First, do not approach a dog tied up alone, eating, or sleeping. Second, ask the owner, since the owner knows the dog's temperament and how the dog interacts with strangers. Lastly, pet the dog from the front. Do not hover over him, stand where he cannot see you, or stare at him as these will scare the dog. Now you can safely approach a dog.
