Lovely stuff - what size are the squares?

If you look further down my post of the 30 intersecting squares you will see I posted a picture (crumby quality) of a card model of 5 intersecting cubes there and it is very similar. I think the eq...more

You're dead right about adding more hexagons and that the hexagon is a plane (with equilaterals) - but the angle between the larger "faces" ie the pentagon and hexagons increases when you add more ...more

Cheers - I needed to catch up on some music and really relax. I tried to make a stop-motion video of the build - but manged to chew through two battery packs before I got to the actual build - oops...more

I hadn't really clicked that you could do it with 90 units - will have to give it a go. I am not sure you could make it much more complicated with that sort of compound in the above - it's not conv...more

I wondered how silly you could get with sonobe, and had a bash at a buckyball, which is a fullerene (technically a truncated isocahedron; you can see a simple model here). It's twelve pentagons—eac...more

you ever seen the set for a triangular cross section mobius torus? Will dig it out and post it - took me days to get it straight - or in fact very curved

I wish you hadnt said that - I have all sorts of very time consuming ideas in my head now

Imatfaal Avidya commented on Math Craft Inspiration of the Week: The Polyhedral Metal Sculptures of Vladimir Bulatov 5 months ago

I made a thick wire turks head knot as a bracelet for a friend - it worked out really nicely. But casting 3d printing would allow one to be so much more precise and detailed

Imatfaal Avidya commented on Math Craft Inspiration of the Week: The Polyhedral Metal Sculptures of Vladimir Bulatov 5 months ago

I love the bracelet. You can get stuff like that made if you have design in 3d cad programme by various 3d printer companies (even in steel, silver or gold!) . The prices are not bad but I cannot g...more

truly yin and yang - i use a protractor to fold sonobe, mostly for the nice straight edge, but also so I can check the fold is perpendicular

Math Craft admin Cory Poole provided quite a few recipes for sonobe models in his blog, and I followed one to make the pentakis dodecahedron here.

I wasn't that happy with my first result because ...more
